My first week owning a football club . . .

by Phil Thornton

I am one of 28,000 people who have purchased a share in Ebbsfleet United using the system implemented through MyFootballClub.co.uk and unless one of my fellow members would like to provide copy for nonleagueblog.co.uk, I will be providing you with my version of all things Ebbsfleet United.

Last week came the announcement that the deal had finally gone through, some six months after my huge investment of £35. I am now waiting to see what the whole club owning experience has in store for me.

I was disappointed to hear I would not be given a directors box, a shareholding or even a glass of champagne on match day. I even have to buy my ticket like your average supporter, not impressed so far.

The last fortnight has seen me vote on which strip I prefer, if Nike should provide our Kit, if I agreed to the takeover and then . . . . . pick the team.

I certainly feel this is a unique idea, and I have enjoyed being part of this project from the beginning, but as a Non League Fan and Club Committee member, I do have my reservations.

I had hoped to travel to York City (the closest ground to me in the Blue Square Premier) when my club rolled into town, but unfortunantly I am out of the country, maybe next season . . .
